  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz Cajun smoked sausage (andouille or similar), sliced

  • 8 oz penne pasta

  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning (more to taste)

  • ½ cup chicken broth

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

  • Optional: red pepper flakes, bell peppers, sun-dried tomatoes

Instructions

  • Cook pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  • Brown sausage slices in a large skillet over medium-high heat (4–5 mins). Remove and set aside.

  • Sauté onion and garlic in the same skillet with olive oil. Add Cajun seasoning and stir for 2 minutes.

  • Deglaze the pan with chicken broth, then add heavy cream and Parmesan. Simmer until slightly thick.

  • Return sausage and pasta to the skillet. Stir well and simmer 2–3 more minutes until heated through.

  • Taste and adjust seasoning. Garnish with parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use andouille sausage for authentic Cajun flavor.

  • For extra heat, add cayenne or hot sauce.

  • Use gluten-free pasta or dairy-free cream for dietary adjustments.

  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for 3–4 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
